Steve Yates,
Director
Steve is an independent resilience consultant who is a founding fellow of the Business Continuity Institute (FBCI), Certified Professional for the Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI) International (CBCP), Founding Fellow of the Institute of Civil Protection & Emergency Management (FICPEM), and is a Member of the Emergency Services Society (MEPS). He is also certified as a lead auditor by the British Standards Institution (BSI) in ISO 22301:2019; Societal Security, Business Continuity Management System (BCMS), advises on ISO 27001:2013; Information Technology – Security Techniques – Information Security Management Systems (ISMS), and has been admitted to the Freedom of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists (WCIT) in recognition for his work in technology Disaster Recovery and Incident Management.
He has served in the British Military and worked in both public & private sector organizations in operational roles for BCM, Crisis Management and IT Disaster Recovery. His “hands-on” approach and experience in leading teams at all levels, includes delivery of ISO Gap Analysis, Risk Assessments (RA), Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Business Continuity Planning (BCP), Incident Response and Crisis Management, including IT Disaster Recovery (DR), advising and leading teams during major incidents.
Key Achievements

Established strategic framework for the coordination, administration, development and quality assurance of Business Continuity Management (BCM), Crisis Management and IT DR Programs;

Led implementation of industry standards (e.g. ISO 22301, ISO22316, ISO 27001 / ISO 27031, ISO 27035, BS11200, BS65000), including involvement with ISO 31000, ISO 20000 / ITIL, as well as having responsibility delivering the Civil Contingencies Act (CCA) as a category 1 & 2 responder;

Led and delivered technology IT Disaster Recovery, Service Continuity, InfoSec Incident Management, plans and testing, directly for organizations and 3rd Party outsourced operations;

Delivered National and International subject matter training, establishing courseware and transfer of knowledge against recognised industry guidelines, BSI / ISO, DRII / BCI, and NCEMA 7000;

Involved in the response to major incidents, either as a Gold Chief of Staff, Silver Team Leader, or as a Bronze Team responder, examples being Terrorist Incidents, Protesters, Pandemics, IT Disaster Recovery as well as significant outages, InfoSec Incidents, Fires and Flooding;

Established Business And National Government (BANG) in 2006, now with some 2,400 members;
